- We are starting a NERC funded new research project on investigating the longevity, senescence patterns and reproductive success in Asian elephants in Myanmar (2009-2011). Welcome to Dr. Khyne Mar who will take the lead here!
- A multi-disciplinary research team with Dr. Markus Jokela (Dept. of Psychology, Univ. of Helsinki) and Dr. Anna Rotkirch (Family Federation of Finland), funded by Kone Foundation (2009-2011), will investigate "Reproductive behaviour in contemporary societies: combining evolutionary theory with social science research". This will fund post-doctoral research by Dr. Jenni Pettay (Helsinki) and Dr. Alexandra Alvergne (Sheffield) and PhD project by Jianghua Liu (Sheffield). New positions will also be available in this project in 2009.
- We were blessed with European Research Council Starting Independent Researcher Grant (2008-2013) on "Mothers, grandmothers and the evolution of prolonged lifespan in humans". Now we are also blessed having Dr. Matthew Robinson in Sheffield to investigate the quantitative genetics of human life-history traits. Some new positions will also be available in this project in 2009.
